This should be treated as a light remodeling project. As the street name implies, this was built by
Mardell back in the day in the Monta Loma / Thompson area where Eichler,
Mackay, and Mardell competed head to head.
Most of the time it is difficult to discern the difference between
Mardell and Mackay construction, but this home helped me discover a couple
things. First, Mardell has exposed
tongue and groove ceilings like Eichlers do whereas Mackay most often used
acoustic or fiberboard tiles; and second Mardell used a simple forced-air
heating system but Mackay used 2 gas wall heaters (and of course Eichlers use
radiant heating in the cement slab).
