Preview Notes:

Very impressive.  Once the initial shock of the clinical white on white
interior wears off which I'm sure you can accent with your own art or
sculptures, you will notice the particular attention to detail of this
brilliant architecture.  I love the concrete floors and huge open space
of the foyer; the rail-based sliding doors on the bedrooms are a nice
touch but you need to see the bathrooms if you really want to be wowed.
The space is enormous but topping it off is a Snaidero kitchen using no
upper cabinets just completes the open feeling.  This will be a really
fun home for the right family!  Appointment only with no open houses so
call me if you want to see it.

Mark's Preview Notes:

This is an opportunity not to be missed!
If you love mid century design then you must see this house.  Designed
by Aaron Green, who not only was a disciple of Frank Lloyd Wright, I
believe he was his west coast representative.  The architecture and
craftsmanship of this home echoes everything about the 1954 mid century
movement but what is most striking is how this home is absolutely
preserved, I’m not just saying original, I’m mean preserved!  Details
like the shoji panel sliding doors, hand-troweled concrete floors with
working radiant heat, and period correct Thermador appliances.  As if
that isn’t enough, there is a studio cottage just a few feet away on the
same property that was built in 1961, sharing all the same design
elements with the main house.  From the original cork flooring down to
the working Westinghouse refrigerator installed when new.  It’s all
there.  My excitement at the delight of seeing a home so well kept is
hard to contain and I kept reminding myself that I felt as if I was
walking through a movie set.  Unfortunately for most of us, it is only
available for purchase from Stanford faculty and staff, but there is
just too much to list and I had sensory overload going through this
house, just go experience it for yourself at the open house.

My 2012 Reading List

Reading-recap
Hard
to believe I surpassed my 2010 record but it looks like I read 53 books last
year!  I noticed this year that I’m much heavier on the fiction side
than the self-improvement side of recent years.  And of that, I devoured
all the Michael Connelly material I could find, boy I really love his
work.  I guess I chalk this up to having a very busy work year so maybe I
wanted more fiction-reading down time to rest my brain a little.

I’ve
highlighted some of my favorites again this year so I hope it helps you
find something you may not have read before.  I’d love to know if you
have read something that moved or inspired you as I’m always looking for
great material.

Steve Jobs — Walter Isaacson

Success Mastery Academy — Brian Tracy

Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption — Laura Hillenbrand

Ten Letters: The Stories Americans Tell Their President — Eli Saslow

The Day That Turns Your Life Around: Discover the incredible difference one day can make! — Jim Rohn

The Last Train From Hiroshima: The Survivors Look Back — Charles Pellegrino

21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership: Follow Them and People Will Follow You — John C Maxwell
